Frog Bikes Shortlisted for National Business Award

  • Lightweight aluminium frames
  • High quality, child-specific components
  • Distributed through a network of independent bike stores

New kids’ bike brand, Frog Bikes, has been shortlisted for the National Business Awards 2013, nominated in the New Business of the Year category.

Launched earlier this year with a range of lightweight affordable bikes featuring hand-picked, high quality components, the small British company is dedicated to making cycling fun for children. Founders Jerry and Shelley Lawson are a couple with two young children of their own and therefore know a thing or two about what motivates children to get on their bikes.

The response to Frog Bikes from the cycling community has been phenomenal. With a commitment to selling primarily through independent bike retailers, their growing network of distributors already encompasses England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland and Hong Kong, with more stores signing up almost daily.

Shelley Lawson, Director of Frog Bikes said of the nomination: “It’s a real surprise to be shortlisted for the National Business Awards, but to know that the work that we have done so far has been appreciated is absolutely fantastic.”   She continued: “Jerry and I launched this range with the intention of making a high quality range of bikes that would make cycling as much fun as possible for smaller riders. We are thrilled by the positive reception we have received from the cycling community since the launch of the brand.”

The current range features nine bikes, with the starter model being the Tadpole balance bike. This bright little machine is great to introduce young children to cycling and make the transition to pedals really easy. From the Tadpole, the remaining bikes increase in size through to the Frog 73 and include a mountain bike with front suspension for those after an off-road adventure.

Frog believe that the lighter the bike, the easier it is for children to learn to ride. Throughout the design process, they hand-picked materials and components to offer high performance without adding extra weight.

This New Business of the Year Award celebrates Britain’s highest performing new companies and recognises those that have exceeded initial targets for growth and financial performance; best demonstrated an understanding of their competitors, customers, and the markets they operate in; and have the foundations in place for continued commercial success. The awards ceremony will take place on 12 November at Grosvenor House, London.
